Simply put, this game has devoured me... well... except for my World of Warcraft time, lol.

I bought this game only yesterday and already I've fallen in love with it. I'm only in the second world and yet, I am feeling that nostalgia of wanting to play my older Mario games once again. What's funny about this game is that it really gives that old-school feeling with a newer twist. I love the gameplay aspect of it. The controls are pretty good too. They're very simple for a Wii game control but they are essential in solving the puzzles in this game.

The music is nice and original too. I definately felt a quirky vibe as I was playing the game and it was really cool that when Mario dies, they kept the tune in from the original game on the NES.

The new Heli Suit is my favorite power-up in the game so far. When you use it, Mario flies stright up into the sky, and as you continue shaking the remote, he slowly flutters back down until either you stop shaking the remote, he hits the ground, or you press the down button to send him drilling down from above.

So far overall, the game brings me back to my former gamer days where I would sit endlessly in front of the TV and get Mario to the next level. What's really cool is that Bowser's Koopalings make their Wii debut here and they do not fail to deliver when you encounter them. Needless to say, I hated Roy in the days of Super Mario 3, and SMBWii doesn't change that at all.

The one thing that I feel is lacking is the fact that if you're playing alone you're playing Mario no matter what. You can't even access Luigi or the Toads unless someone else is playing with you. Even though this isn't a deviation from the usual "Mario is first player" format, I would have thought that the Wii's capabilities would have allowed for you to be able to choose your character, a la Mario 2. So that was a little disappointing.

All in all, this game is very good and I would suggest getting it, especially if you wanna travel down memory lane a little bit and tap into old-school gaming skills once again. The original Mario made me a gamer, and I'm glad to see that flavor brought back with a new mix of controls and gameplay.
